In 1996 / 1997 I was a key
member of the client's SAP implementation team. I helped the client to
evaluate SAP against Oracle, Peoplesoft and Baan and to compare Sun against
HP, DEC and Pyramid. The client picked SAP. I helped the client to map out
the technical, training and staffing requirements for the migration. The
client split its MIS department in two. Half was sequestered away to work on
the SAP implementation full time. The other half was tasked with running
existing operations. I was selected to be the temporary MIS manager in charge
of the half supporting the company's on-going business. I hired and trained
new staff to back-fill MIS and stabilized ongoing operations. I handed a
well-running MIS department to a new manager. The client next assigned me to
the SAP implementation team where I helped to migrate their legacy system to
SAP. |
