MES consultant - K. S. Kuo - summary of MES / CIM experiences

My MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) clients include world-class manufacturers like Samsung Electronics Corporation and MES vendors like Promis Systems Corporation.  My company, Coastside Data Systems, Inc. has been an independent MES / CIM consulting resource to the semiconductor industry since 1986.

One of the big advances in manufacturing systems is the utilization of web technologies for the collection and distribution of manufacturing information.  I helped one of my clients to spec, purchase and set up a web server that publishes data from their SAP ERP system and their engineering systems.  Being a certified SAP programmer, I was able to write all the programs using ABAP/4, ColdFusion, Visual C++, Active Server Pages (ASP), VBScript (VBS), ActiveX Data Objects (ADO), OLE DB and Crystal Reports.  This system allows any employee in the U.S. and overseas to display or update data by simply using their web browser.

My semiconductor industry experience started in 1976 when I worked as a NMOS memories product engineer for National Semiconductor Corporation in Santa Clara.  By the time I left National, I had become a design engineer. After working as a product engineer at Advanced Micro Devices, I was hired by Data General Corporation as the test engineering manager in their VLSI design group.

In the summer of 1982, I joined a start-up IC manufacturer called Xicor.  That same year I wrote a screen-driven, multi-user, lot tracking system for Xicor that they used to track their WIP in wafer fab, wafer sort and final test.  By the time I left Xicor in 1986, I was their MIS manager and had successfully implemented their first ERP system. 

Since 1986 I have been an independent MES / ERP consultant to the semiconductor industry in North America as well as in the Far East.  I have partnered with MES vendors as well as the major consultancies for the benefit of global manufacturers and distributors.  My MES experience coupled with my ERP expertise makes me a valuable asset to any client.

I am a U.S. citizen and I am available to travel anywhere in the U.S. and in friendly countries abroad.  Since incorporating myself as an independent consultant in 1986, I have had contracts in the U. S., Canada and the Far East.  I speak fluent Mandarin Chinese.  I have consulted via a W-2, 1099 and corp-to-corp.  I live near San Francisco.
